Granted books like The Giving Tree and Goodnight Moon are indisputable classics worthy of space on your bookshelf, regardless of the city you live in. By all means, build your home library with all the Eric Carle and Richard Scarry you want. But if you truly want to Vegas-ize your shelves, pick up these titles to share with your little one.

Local newsman Kevin Janison has penned two great kids books centered around a hapless officer, Deputy Dorkface.
